| Global Health Course Modules Project |
The Global Health Education Consortium has initiated a project to develop by late 2008 at least
100 teaching modules on global health topics. The modules will have the following features
and characteristics:
|
| |
• PowerPoint presentation with a common 'look-and-feel' format
• suitable for introductory and more advanced courses
• suitable for medical, public health, nursing & other health students
• has desirable learning features such as learning objectives and quizzes
• usable in either instructor-led or self-instructional mode
• can be used in certificate and continuing education programs
• developed in partnership with student organizations, NGOs and universities
• peer-reviewed and field-tested by students and faculty
• linked with a wiki so users can add content and dialogue about the topic
• potential for 'internationalization' of modules (translation, regional modules)
|
Our central objectives are to improve the quality and efficiency of global health education. We seek to do this
by providing high quality modules on a wide variety of topics which students can review either on their own or in
instructor-led courses. By being assigned in advance of class session modules can reduce time spent in
lectures, thus allowing class time to be used more productively in discussions, review of case studies,
problem-solving, etc. Additional information is available in the below documents.
Persons interested in being a module author and/or reviewer should contact Tom Hall at >>thall@epi.ucsf.edu.

About the Sample Modules
These modules, among the first drafts received from authors, illustrate the key features
in every module: a flash-based presentation with standard format and navigation, links to
supplementary notes to expand on the slide contents; and flash-based quizzes to help
students assess their learning.
